Verdict
The Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RTX 5080 land at nearly identical prices — within 4% of each other — so your decision should come down to features, ecosystem fit, and availability rather than budget.
The Radeon RX 7900 XTX's 24 GB of VRAM is a 8 GB advantage over the RTX 5080. At 4K or in heavily modded games that extra buffer matters — and it provides headroom as future titles push VRAM requirements higher.
As an NVIDIA card, the RTX 5080 gives you access to DLSS 4 super-resolution and Frame Generation, which can meaningfully lift frame rates in supported titles. The Radeon RX 7900 XTX counters with FSR 4, which is open-source and works across a wider range of games — including some that don't support DLSS. Which ecosystem matters more depends on the games in your library.
